Ballston Spa Central School District has a vacancy for a Custodial Operations Supervisor.
This position will be filled provisionally pending the results of a Civil Service Exam to be given at a later date.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This work involves responsibility for overseeing the efficient and economical custodial activities of a school district. Persons in this class may also perform some skilled maintenance and repair tasks in any number of building trades. Supervision is exercised over the entire district custodial staff. Work is performed under the general supervision of higher level operation employee or School Administrator with leeway allowed for exercise of independent judgment in carrying out the details of the work. Does related work as required. TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative Only) Coordinates day to day custodial operations for the school district; Acts as coordinator and liaison for the school district for all activities requiring the use of district facilities and support services; Directly supervises all second shift employees as well as general supervision and direction to all Develops and conducts safety and training programs for custodial staff with respect to cleaning of the buildings and facilities; Coordinates preventative maintenance schedules for equipment with district staff and contractors; Develops and conducts safety and training programs for custodial staff with respect to cleaning of the buildings and facilities; Coordinates preventative maintenance schedules for equipment with district staff and contractors; May oversee the light maintenance and repair of custodial related equipment and facilities; Establishes work standards for custodial staff in cooperation with Facilities and Operations Coordinator; Submits a departmental operating budget; Prepares a variety of records and reports as required. FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Good knowledge of modern large scale cleaning operations and practices; good knowledge of cleaning equipment and commercial chemicals, supplies and their applications; working knowledge of the tools, terminology, and practices of the building trades; working knowledge of custodial operations software; ability to plan and supervise the work of others; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to keep records and make reports; good judgment; tact and courtesy; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either: A. Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered two year college or university with an Associate’s Degree in architecture, construction technology, structural mechanical or civil engineering or related field and three (3) years of experience in large scale custodial operations at least one (1) year of which being in a supervisory capacity; Or B. Graduation from high school or possession of a GED and five (5) years of experience in large scale custodial operations at least one (1) year of which being in a supervisory capacity; Or C. An equivalent combination of training and experience outlines by the limits of (A) and (B) above. Adopted
