Job Description

Wood Road Elementary is seeking an Administrative Aide for the 2026–2027 school year. This is a 10-month, probationary position. The successful candidate will have experience supporting students, staff, and overall school operations. Strong planning and organizational skills are essential, and experience in behavior management and working with children is preferred. The Administrative Aide will work closely with the building principal to support students and maintain effective communication with parents and families.

 

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This position involves providing assistance to the school principal and teaching staff in the areas of facility coordination, student flow management, behavioral management and student supervision, staff services and business affairs. Works closely in communicating with teaching staff and parents/guardians regarding management of any student behavioral concerns. This class differs from that of Administrative Assistant in that clerical duties are performed on an as needed basis. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the school principal or other senior level staff member. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (*Illustrative Only)
• Provides assistance with facility coordination and student flow management;
• Provides assistance with behavioral management and student supervision, including alternative learning requirements;
• Responds to crisis calls involving student behavior;
• Collaborates with applicable staff, communicating to parents/guardians, in determining and addressing any behavioral concerns/intervention and resolutions;
• Supervises the safe arrival and dismissal of students;
• Schedules and conducts coordinated bus and fire drills ensuring safe and efficient flow of students and personnel;
• Oversees recreational areas, equipment and facilities during student use;
• Arranges all special transportation with regard to student transport for field trips and other special events;
• Manages student data base on personal computer;
• Prepares a variety of records and reports with regard to student/building records;
• May assist in the scheduling and coordination of facilities use and academic calendar;
• May assist in budget preparation to ensure sufficient operational requirements are met;
• May assist with student registration requirements;
• Performs related duties as necessary.

FULL PERFORMANCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Good knowledge of classroom and facility management; working knowledge in the use of a personal computer; ability to establish good and dependable relationship with teaching and building staff; ability to establish good relationships with children; ability to manage any behavioral situations with students on an emotional, sometimes physical, level; ability to communicate objectively with parents/guardians in resolving any behavioral concerns; good knowledge of modern methods of student academic activities; good ability to maintain applicable reports and records, including financial as required; good general knowledge of instructional equipment; resourcefulness; ability to maintain discipline ; tact; courtesy; good judgment.

Job Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A) Possession of an Associate’s Degree, or at least sixty (60) credit hours from a college or university; OR
B) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma (GED) with two (2) years of work experience involving day to day involvement of student activities;
C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above, to be evaluated on a case-by- case basis.
NOTE: TCIS training is preferred but not required.
