DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is routine manual work requiring some knowledge of grounds maintenance activities. Work is performed under the general supervision and assignments are outlines in detail and inspected periodically. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative Only) Mows, rakes, and cuts grass; Keeps grounds free of litter; Removes snow and ice and spreads sand and salt on walks, pathways, drive and parking lots; Fertilizes, seeds, and cultivates lawns and athletic fields; Operates trucks, mowers, tractors, and snow plow in performance of duties; Hauls and spreads top soil, gravel and related groundskeeping materials; Plants and cares for trees, shrubs and plants; When not work as a Groundskeeper, does other routine manual work including minor maintenance tasks;
REQUIRED PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, ABILITIES, SKILLS, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Working knowledge of grounds maintenance activities; willingness to perform manual work; physical strength and endurance; good physical condition.
NOTES: If the position requires the operation of a motor vehicle, then the following special requirement applies: Eligibility for an appropriate motor vehicle operators license at the time of application for appointment. Possession of the license at the time of appointment.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED completion.
